What exactly does the Twister do?
The Twister processes various types of plants that require trimming and/or separation. From separating hops from their leaves to processing aromatic herbs, The Twister has many applications.
How does the Twister work?
The Twister has two main components: The tumbler and blade unit which does the actual cutting, and the vacuum unit that assists in the separating. The material is inserted in one end of the tumbler as it rolls. The material rolls through the tumbler while being trimmed. The vacuum collects trimmed material such as stems and leaves and separates it into a collection bag.
How fast is the Twister?
This depends on the material being processed. On average, you can expect to feed at a rate of one heaping handful every four to six seconds. Most of our customers are finding they can process approximately 10 pounds of material per hour
How do you clean the Twister and how often?
During daily use, The Twister should be cleaned as often as possible. Certain plant materials will cause build-up on the blades. This build-up will determine the cleaning requirements. It is advised to use a non-stick cooking spray on the blades to keep this build-up to a minimum (we recommend spray-on olive oil). Because the Twister was designed for the wash-down conditions of the food-handling industry, 5 minutes with a pressure washer will typically get the Twister very clean.
Is the Twister easy to move?
Yes, the Twister has been outfitted with rubber tires, allowing for easy mobility on all surfaces. And because the frame is similar to the chassis of a race car, there are many locations to attach tie-down straps. And with the right technique, it is easily loaded onto decks, trailers, or vans with one person.
What if I need replacement parts for the Twister?
No problem. Trim Scene Solutions, Inc. stocks every part needed for Twister assembly and handles all warranty repair work.
How often do the Twister blades need to be sharpened?
The blade setup on the Twister is designed in such a way that when properly maintained and adjusted, the blades are self-sharpening.
Can I adjust the length of cut with the Twister?
Yes. There is a simple procedure to adjust the length of cut on the Twister.
What comes with a complete Twister unit?
When you purchase a Twister you will receive the cutting unit, a suction hose, a vacuum, a canvas cover, an instruction manual, and a one year warranty.
What voltage is required for the Twister?
The North American Twister models require 120V for the cutting unit and 240V for the vacuum.
Why is a 240V vacuum standard on the Twister?
The 240V vacuum that comes with the Twister offers the best performance-to-price ratio.
What is bucking?
Bucking is a process that is required on some plant sources to remove the flowers from the stem. Depending on the material being processed, bucking is typically done by hand or with scissors. If the plant you are processing has large fan leaves, it is also most efficient to remove them during the bucking process.
If I have to buck the material by hand, why use a machine like the Twister?
The bucking process, once perfected, is very quick. Once bucked, the Twister can do the rest. At over 320 cuts per second, you will quickly see the time saved by using The Twister.
What if I am only processing small flowers with the Twister?
No problem. This is really where The Twister shines. Harvesting small flowers by hand is very time-consuming. The Twister makes quick work of such jobs.
How many times can material be passed through the Twister?
While one pass is usually sufficient, you can repeatedly send a material through the Twister without any harm being done. However, more than two passes is typically a waste of time.
What if I require greater speed with the Twister?
Some customers use two Twister units back-to-back. They can effectively feed the Twister faster and get twice the overall cutting action.
